These are common signs indicating something could be wrong:
Information
11. No information of any kind has been given to you for a long time regarding the estate or what’s been happening.
22. It’s been two months or more since the Estate for Trust started and you can’t answer the following:
a) Who is entitled to distributions and when.
b) What assets are in the estate or trust.
c) What is being done to preserve and properly manage the assets.
d) What expenses are being paid from the estate or trust and to whom.
e) When assets must be sold, or will be sold.
f) Where the assets are located.
g) When the estate or trust is supposed to conclude.
h) Why you do not have information.
33. You’ve not received an accounting of the financial activity.
44. You’ve not received an inventory of the assets in the estate.
55. You’re not receiving prompt or complete answers to your questions.
66. You’ve been told you are not entitled to information or you are being ignored.
77. Other people seem to be getting special treatment or benefits.
88. You’ve been left out of meeting about the estate or trust.
99. Assets are missing or you’ve been told they don’t exist.
110. Other people are using assets (home, vehicle, land etc.) without paying for it.
111. You’re being told the value of assets are far less than what you thought.
112. You think there are secret deals between other people involving the assets.
113. You think the administrator or trustee may be using assets for their personal benefit.
114. A surviving spouse or family member is not receiving living expenses or income for their needs.
115. You don’t know whether tax returns have been filed and whether the taxes have been paid.
